Keep your verified rank.
Provide your last official rank and its issuing instructor or organization. Once authenticated and accepted, that rank is preserved in your Hall Combatives transition record; you are not asked to start again at white belt.
Moved away? Lost your instructor? Left a system that no longer supports you? The Hall Combatives Association welcomes martial artists seeking a new training home, a fair assessment, and a path forward.
Our “orphaned martial artists” pathway is for practitioners who have been disconnected from a school, association, or instructor—whether through relocation, a school closing, a separation, or a change in direction. The term refers to training affiliation, not family status.
Led by Master Nathan Hall, Ph.D., 7th Dan, Hall Combatives offers a practical system shaped by more than 50 years of martial arts study, military training, and leadership experience.
You bring your documented background. You join the Association, learn Hall Combatives material, and demonstrate your skills for review.

Provide your last official rank and its issuing instructor or organization. Once authenticated and accepted, that rank is preserved in your Hall Combatives transition record; you are not asked to start again at white belt.
Membership and rank recognition do not replace learning Hall Combatives. Your assessment identifies the material you need to bridge into our system while retaining your recognized prior standing.
You may request consideration for up to one rank above your verified entry rank. Advancement depends on demonstrated skill, Hall Combatives proficiency, conduct, and an approved assessment. It is earned, never automatic.
The same assessment principles apply to youth and adults, with demonstrations adapted to age, experience, and agreed accessibility needs. A parent or guardian must coordinate applications for minors.
Membership dues, assessment fees, training delivery, timelines, and final rank equivalencies will be confirmed before enrollment or payment. This page does not collect fees or instantly issue memberships or rank.
Tell us about your martial arts background, location, previous rank, and goals. Membership is required for rank recognition and certification.
Identify the issuing school, instructor, association, and award date if known. Keep your certificate ready for a confirmed submission channel; do not post identity documents publicly.
Share an access-controlled or unlisted link that the reviewers can open, or ask for a submission method. The review team may request a live follow-up or additional footage.
Receive your transition requirements and confirm how to access the relevant training before joining. Demonstrate the material required for your assessment.
An authorized reviewer confirms the recognized entry rank, any remaining requirements, and whether an optional one-rank advancement has been earned. No rank is issued by this form.
Approved members receive Association-issued documentation through the review process. Request the certificate number, rank, issue date, authorizing signature, and verification contact when issued.
Balance, stance, footwork, coordination, controlled pad or bag work, and appropriate combinations from your existing background and assigned Hall Combatives material.
Awareness, boundaries, de-escalation, avoidance, escape principles, and safe, controlled demonstrations of relevant training.
How you connect skills, explain principles, follow safety directions, show respect, and demonstrate responsible conduct and willingness to learn.
Where relevant, supervised grappling, Arnis, or other discipline-specific work may be reviewed. Use safe training equipment and qualified supervision. Do not stage uncontrolled fights, dangerous stunts, live-blade demonstrations, or injury-risk tests for an application.
Use a clear, recent recording showing your whole body and enough space to move safely. Identify the recording date and explain what you are demonstrating. Keep the footage continuous within each demonstration rather than using highlight edits.
There is no required forms sequence. Specific demonstrations will be confirmed by the review team for your background and requested rank.
Obtain permission from anyone appearing in your video. For minors, the parent or guardian coordinates the submission and any consent. Do not include home addresses, school schedules, IDs, or unrelated personal records.
An unlisted link is not the same as a private file: anyone with the link may be able to view it. Use provider access controls where possible and share only what is needed for review.

| Optional one-rank advancement | Consideration for one rank above your accepted entry rank. | Demonstrated readiness and the required Hall Combatives proficiency. |

Applications are welcome worldwide. Certification is issued by Hall Combatives and recognized within its Association; acceptance by outside schools, federations, employers, or regulators is determined by those bodies. UFAF and the Chuck Norris System are independent organizations, with no affiliation or endorsement implied.

Your authenticated prior rank is preserved as your recognized transition starting point once accepted. Any learning gaps are addressed through a bridge plan, not by requiring you to restart at white belt. Your original organization’s records remain separate.
No. You may be considered for up to one rank above your accepted entry rank only after satisfying the applicable Hall Combatives learning and assessment requirements.
No. Hall Combatives does not require forms, kata, or hyungs. Assessment focuses on practical execution, understanding, control, judgment, and conduct.
Explain that in your application. The review team can discuss alternative records or verification. Unverified claims remain pending; no certificate is generated automatically.
Yes, through a parent or guardian. Expectations and demonstrations must be age-appropriate. Junior or adult status and any transition requirements will be specified in the written decision rather than assumed by this form.
No association can guarantee that every outside body will accept its credentials. Hall Combatives issues its own certification for its system, welcomes applicants internationally, and confirms issued credentials directly. Outside recognition is decided by the receiving organization.
Not by itself. Instructor authorization is separate from membership and rank and requires a teaching assessment and written approval.
Ask the Foundation to confirm current training formats, available instruction, assessment requirements, and fees before enrolling. This page is not an online course portal.
