Master Nathan Hall · Korea, lineage & military service
Korea · 1992–1993
During his Army service in Korea in 1992 and 1993, Master Nathan Hall competed in bare-knuckle martial arts and remained undefeated. He recounts earning a walk-on place on the all-U.S.-military team after defeating every member of the U.S. Army team, and serving as co-captain.
Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do lineage
Hall identifies his teacher, Master Son Hwan Kwon, as one of the original 43 masters under Hwang Kee, founder of Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do. His personal archive includes photographs with Grandmaster Hwang Kee and Master Son Hwan Kwon, along with images documenting his inclusion in a Korean martial arts history book. In 1994, Hall sponsored Master Son Hwan Kwon to come to the United States.
Service, instruction & prevention
A U.S. Army paratrooper and graduate of the U.S. Army Special Forces Operations Course, Hall taught hand-to-hand combat. He also recounts creating a rape-prevention program at the Alternate Joint Communications Center (AJCC), Site R, while serving in the Military District of Washington.
